Working with and dining at Gold Cash Gold in Detroit’s Corktown has been a transformative experience for me, both as a filmmaker and a food enthusiast. Before my time there, my palate was quite narrow, with pasta dishes reigning supreme in my list of favorites. However, Gold Cash Gold opened my eyes to a whole new world of flavors, especially when it came to discovering what a good Rosé wine should taste like!
Under the guidance of Chef Brendon Edwards, Gold Cash Gold evolved from a New American menu to embracing Spanish and Latin American flavors. The menu was dynamic, constantly changing to incorporate locally sourced ingredients, making each visit a new culinary adventure. I’ll never forget the best steak of my life that I enjoyed there, perfectly complemented by their expertly crafted cocktails. The ambiance, with its distinctive bar and stunning stained glass, created an unforgettable dining experience.
Filming at Gold Cash Gold was one of my first experiences in restaurant and food videography, and it was a true challenge to capture the essence of what this place meant to its owners and patrons. I was fortunate to indulge in amazing food during these shoots, which made the long hours of filming enjoyable. The video I produced was part one of a two-part series, focusing on the brunch menu, and it was important for me to convey the passion and dedication behind every dish.
Throughout this project, I made many new friends and created countless memories. The time I spent at Gold Cash Gold was not just about filming; it was about learning, growing, and savoring every moment. It remains a cherished chapter in my journey, both professionally and personally.
