Rediscovering the Art of the Demo Reel: A Filmmaker’s Journey 2018-2019

As a working filmmaker and drone pilot, I haven’t had to make a demo reel in years. When you’re booked and busy in this industry, creating a demo reel often slips down the priority list. Typically, a demo reel is used to reach out to new clients and showcase speculative work. However, once I got my drone, everything changed. I had to update my online image and make people aware of my new capabilities.

The footage in this reel was mainly shot in 2018, so it’s already a bit old—haha! But progress is what I strive for, and looking back, this was a significant era in my career. At that time, I had just made the exciting transition to using the Sony A7III and the Mavic Pro Drone. These tools opened up new creative possibilities and allowed me to capture stunning visuals.

This video combines footage from my music video company, Auxiliary Cinema. It includes behind-the-scenes moments with the rock band Wayland and captures the energy of working with Danny Brown and the Bruiser Brigade crew. These are some of my most compelling and visually appealing moments from recent years.

I can’t wait to surpass this in the years to come. Onward and upward! Thanks for watching.
