Every industry has its big annual gathering, and for the marine, dock, and boat lift world, that’s The Docks Expo. This year, I had the chance to head down to Nashville to capture the action, with the Dockman, and Waters Edge to meet some of the top manufacturers in the game, and see what’s next for the industry. Our goal with this is to bring some alternative coverage to the se boat shows, and show it from our point of view.
The Mission: Finding Innovation on the Water
The marine, dock, and boat lift industry is constantly evolving, and this expo brings the best minds together under one roof. My goal was to document the latest and greatest in waterfront technology—new dock systems, cutting-edge boat lifts, and the future of waterfront development. From high-performance floating docks to innovative materials that will change the industry, it was all there.
Capturing the Action
Shooting at a trade show presents its own set of challenges. The lighting is always unpredictable, the booths are crowded, and you’ve got to move fast to capture the energy of the event. We set out to film interviews with top industry experts, getting their insights on where the market is headed and what new products are about to change the game. We do try to find other businesses that align with ours, when seeking out interviews. As always, it was a great opportunity to connect with the people shaping the future of waterfront living.
Looking Ahead
The Docks Expo left us excited for what’s next in this space. The industry is pushing forward with new materials, smarter designs, and more innovative solutions for lakefront living. Putting a spotlight on these manufactures in this industry is a an open space that The Dockman plans to fill.
For now, it’s back to the editing room, cutting together what we captured in Nashville. This project has been all about exploring what’s new and what’s next, and I can’t wait to share the final video with you. Stay tuned—there’s more to come!
