Gold Cash Gold stands as a symbol of transformation in Detroit, a city known for its resilience and renaissance. Located in the historically modest neighborhood of Corktown, the restaurant didn’t launch without its share of controversy. The idea of placing a high-end eatery in such an area sparked criticism and skepticism. However, Gold Cash Gold addressed these concerns head-on by employing local talent and hosting weekly charity dinner events, proving its commitment to the community.
Their dedication to sourcing ingredients from Detroit’s urban farms further demonstrated their support for local businesses and sustainable practices. The explosion of the Detroit food scene in recent years has brought many excellent dining options to the city, and Gold Cash Gold has played a significant role in this culinary revolution.
Working on the second part of the Gold Cash Gold video series was meant to be the centerpiece of the project. Filming the restaurant and its dishes was a challenge that pushed me outside my comfort zone. Capturing the essence of food on camera requires perfect lighting, and it was an incredible learning experience for me.
I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to Gold Cash Gold’s online presence, showcasing what makes this restaurant truly special. Translating their unique qualities and commitment to the community into a digital format has been one of the most rewarding challenges of my career. Visiting the urban farms with the chef and witnessing their dedication firsthand made me appreciate the effort they put into making a difference in Corktown, Detroit.
