Launching a drone flight from the roof of what was once Cobo Center, now TCF Center, was an unforgettable experience. From there, I soared above the Renaissance Center and Hart Plaza, capturing stunning aerial views of downtown Detroit. This footage has not only found its way into several projects but has also been sold as stock footage, proving invaluable in my work as a videographer.
Learning to capture extra footage during flights or while on location has paid off in the long run. It’s a practice I’ve found essential, especially when unexpected opportunities arise. Navigating the evolving landscape of drone regulations, I’ve noticed that gaining flight clearance downtown has become more intricate. Now, I register my flight times on the DJI website to ensure compliance.
Drone rules will undoubtedly continue to evolve, and I’m committed to following them closely. The drone has become a crucial component of my video business, allowing me to offer clients breathtaking perspectives that weren’t possible before. Embracing these changes is part of the journey, and I’m excited to see where it takes me next.
